With more than 30 years of expertise in the travel industry promoting Africa to adventurers and those looking for an experience of a lifetime. Maggie started her travel career with the Kenya Tourist Board in New York under the diplomatic umbrella promoting tourism to Kenya from 1981 to 1993.
During this time, she worked with various tour operators, airlines, travel agents and media bringing awareness about travel to Kenya to the American Market as well as Mexico and Canada.
In 1993, she branched out to work as a tour operator, packaging safaris to East Africa and later adding South Africa after the release of Nelson Mandela from prison. In 1995, she joined a California-based tour operator as their East Coast and Mid-West Sales Manager, increasing their sales to more than 50% annually.
In 2005, she moved to Protravel where she started ProAfrica as an in-house operator for the agency - handling custom tailored safari itineraries for high end clients.
After 16 years as Director of ProAfrica, a division of Protravel, Maggie started ProAfrika Safaris in 2021, in partnership with the same suppliers that she’s worked with for the entirety of her career. She has strong partnerships with expert ground handlers and has developed close and personal relationships with all suppliers over the years. She’s able to provide extra care to all her clients booked through ProAfrika Safaris as well as extend fantastic negotiated rates and VIP amenities.

Mwango Maranga is a Kenyan-born professional with a background in Biological Sciences. She brings a wealth of experience from her work in various laboratories at universities, research centers, and pharmaceutical settings in both the USA and Kenya. Despite her love for biological sciences, Mwango is an even greater lover of the outdoors and has not limited herself to the confines of the science world.
As a member of ProAfrika Safaris, Mwango brings her passion for Africa, its people, and outdoor activities, as well as her dedication to excellent customer service.
In 2022, she completed two treks to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania with the belief that everyone has unlimited capabilities regardless of their limitations.
She is fluent in several local languages and has an intimate knowledge of the African landscape, cultures, and communities. Mwango is committed to sharing the natural beauty and wildlife of Africa with the world, while balancing the needs of local communities and visitors.
